Recruiting

The three cities recruit very differently. London runs mostly autumn application windows for graduate roles, Stockholm is notably rolling or intake-based, and Dubai (and the wider Middle East) mixes once-a-year graduate cycles with year-round hiring and dedicated programmes for national candidates. Dates change every year and differ by firm and role, so treat the figures below as the 2026–27 picture at the time of writing and confirm everything on firm careers pages before applying.

London: when do MBB firms recruit?

London graduate recruiting is largely autumn-based, with internships often recruited separately. For the 2026–27 cycle:

BCG London

  • Associate / Senior Associate (graduate): BCG's UK careers page lists applications as opening 9 September 2026 and closing 18 October 2026. BCG states that all decisions are made after the deadline, so applying later in the window doesn't disadvantage you.
  • Internship (penultimate-year students): listed as opening 1 January 2027 and closing 24 January 2027.

Bain London

  • Associate Consultant: Bain's London recruiting page states applications close on 15 October at 23:59 BST, with no cover letter required, and start dates typically spread across the year (January, March, May, September and October). A university careers posting of the same role lists applications opening 1 September, an online assessment due 20 October, virtual first-round interviews 5–12 November and in-person second rounds 24–27 November.
  • Associate Consultant Intern (ACI): Bain says applications for its 2027 programme are expected to open in November 2026.

McKinsey London

McKinsey's UK campus pages list roles (Business Analyst, Business Analyst Intern, Junior Associate) but no dates appeared in the version reviewed for this post. Third-party sources conflict, and some quote US deadlines for London. One unverified candidate report suggests London campus graduate roles closed in mid-October in the previous cycle. Check McKinsey's campus deadline tool directly. McKinsey's London Business School page lists MBA deadlines (Associate for two-year MBAs in September 2026, Associate Intern in November 2026, Associate for one-year MBAs in January 2027).

What should London candidates do?

  • Have your CV and cover letter ready by late summer.
  • Apply early in each window where firms review on a rolling basis. BCG's stated "decisions after the deadline" approach is an exception worth noting.
  • Expect online assessments soon after applying, and interviews from late October into December.

Stockholm: how do Nordic offices recruit?

Stockholm is the clearest example of non-calendar recruiting among major firms.

McKinsey Sweden

McKinsey's Swedish careers page says recent graduates apply for Junior Associate roles in Stockholm or Gothenburg through five application-intake windows a year, each linked to specific interview dates, with some flexibility if none suit. Experienced professionals (more than one year's experience since graduating) can apply all year round. The page describes two one-hour interviews with consultants and says invited candidates receive interview preparation material.

BCG Stockholm

BCG's Sweden pages say the full-time Associate application window is open throughout the year, with interview timing agreed with the recruiting team. On internships (Visiting Associate), BCG pages conflict. One version says internship applications are accepted year-round, while another describes one deadline per year in the autumn, with interviews in October, a two-round process including an online case (8–10 multiple-choice, short-answer and fill-in questions, plus a video question) and one case interview, then a second-round case. BCG also asks applicants studying outside Sweden to explain why they want to work in Stockholm, and lists transcripts among the required documents.

Bain Stockholm

Third-party trackers list Bain's Stockholm/Helsinki Associate Consultant roles for the class of 2027 as expected around February 2027. This is unverified, so check Bain's careers site.

What should Stockholm candidates do?

  • Don't wait for an autumn "season". Rolling and intake-based systems reward applying when you're ready.
  • Include transcripts and a clear motivation for Sweden.
  • Swedish language requirements vary by firm and role, so check each listing.

Dubai and the Middle East: how does recruiting work?

Middle East offices (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Doha) combine structured graduate cycles with rolling recruitment and strong national-talent programmes.

BCG Middle East

BCG's international opportunities page lists the Middle East application window as January 2027 for Associates and Visiting Associates, and notes that only English is required. BCG Riyadh runs a Visiting Associate internship for Saudi university students graduating in 2027/2028, with five start dates a year.

McKinsey Middle East

McKinsey runs edad, a programme for Arabic speakers with fewer than six years' experience. According to McKinsey, those selected are guaranteed a place in the assessment process for its Middle East office. edad UAE, for Emirati nationals, is scheduled for 29–31 January 2027 in Abu Dhabi. edad Academy targets Saudi undergraduates at Saudi universities. No official Business Analyst deadline for Dubai was found when this post was written.

Bain Middle East

Bain's Mustaqbalak programmes target GCC nationals, and its COOP training targets Saudi nationals at Saudi universities. No official Associate Consultant deadline for Dubai was found, so check Bain's careers site.

What about nationalisation policies and Arabic?

Third-party guides report that UAE and Saudi nationalisation rules (Emiratisation and Saudisation) are shifting hiring towards nationals in some roles, and that Arabic is an advantage, particularly for government work, though not always required. Verify current rules with official government sources before relying on them.

How do the three cities compare?

London Stockholm Dubai/Middle East
Graduate cycle Mainly autumn windows Rolling or multiple intakes Mix of annual windows and rolling
Internships Often separate, sometimes winter Varies by firm Varies; national programmes
Language English English often fine; check listings English; Arabic an advantage
Special routes Diversity and early-access programmes Few National-candidate programmes

How should you plan if applying to more than one city?

Map every firm-office combination into one calendar, note whether each reviews on a rolling basis, and prepare for interviews early enough to take the first available slot. Case preparation transfers across cities, and an AI interviewer like caize.ai lets you keep practising between irregular interview dates.

FAQ

Can I apply to the same firm in multiple cities?
Policies vary. Some firms allow office preferences on one application, and others restrict multiple applications. Check each firm's rules.

Is recruiting earlier in London than in Stockholm?
London is more concentrated in autumn. Stockholm is spread across the year, so "earlier" depends on the intake you target.

Do I need Arabic for Dubai consulting roles?
Generally not for entry-level roles. BCG states only English is required for its Middle East applications, but Arabic is an advantage.

How often do these dates change?
Every cycle. Always confirm on official careers pages.
